Data Residency Policy

1. Who controls the data

Safegram Ltd, registered and operating in Dublin, Ireland, is the data controller for Safegram and for Safegram News. Irish and EU law applies, including the GDPR.

2. Where data is stored

Safegram account and content data is stored on infrastructure located in the European Union. Backups are held within the EU under the same protections as live data.

3. Transfers outside the EU

Where a supporting service processes data outside the EU — for example, an operational tool or a support provider — the transfer is covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision, and is limited to what that service needs to do its job.

4. Identity verification data

Identity verification is carried out by our verification partner. Safegram receives the verification result, not the underlying identity documents. Documents submitted during verification are handled by the partner under its own retention schedule and are not stored in Safegram's systems.

5. Messages

Private messages are end-to-end encrypted. Safegram cannot read their contents, regardless of where the encrypted data is stored.

6. Retention

Data is kept only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted or irreversibly anonymised, other than records we are legally obliged to keep.

7. Your rights

You can request access to your data, correction, deletion, a portable copy, or restriction of processing. Write to team@safegram.com. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission.

8. Newsroom data

Safegram News publishes public articles. We do not sell reader data, we do not run third-party advertising trackers on the newsroom, and we do not build advertising profiles from what you read.
