Verification is free and takes about 60 seconds. Members are strongly encouraged to verify to unlock the full platform and earn the Peacemaker Ring. Every business, creator and seller must be verified before they can list, sell, offer services or accept payments — no exceptions. All checks are performed by Didit, a Y Combinator and Robinhood Ventures-backed identity infrastructure provider trusted by 2,000+ organisations worldwide.
We hold zero passport scans, zero driver's licences, zero selfies and zero liveness data. Your ID document and biometric check are captured directly by Didit as our specialist sub-processor, and Didit returns only a pass/fail result plus your verified badge. Nothing sensitive ever touches Safegram's servers.

Why we trust Didit
Fully GDPR-compliant · ISO/IEC 27001 certified · EU-regulated · trusted by 2,000+ organisations across Europe with this exact job.
This is the point of using Didit. Identity is their entire product — not a side feature bolted onto a social app. We trust them so you don't have to trust us with your ID. Full detail lives in our privacy policy.
Plain-English summary of what actually sits in Safegram's database after you verify — and when it goes away. The legally-binding version is in our privacy policy.
Didit (didit.me) is dedicated identity and fraud infrastructure — one API for KYC, KYB, AML, biometric liveness, face match, device / IP intelligence and real-time transaction monitoring. Verifications finish end-to-end in under two seconds for 99% of users.
Four verification modules power the Safegram trust layer. Every Peacemaker Ring, Verified Seller and Verified Business badge on Safegram is issued only after these checks pass.
Government-issued ID checks, passive liveness and 1:1 face match to confirm the person behind the account is real and present.
Company registration lookup, directors and Ultimate Beneficial Owner checks before a business account gets a Verified Business badge.
Didit's age-estimation module assists Safegram in age-gating features for teen and family safety — approved under German FSM / JMStV §4(2).
Ongoing device / IP intelligence and AML screening across 10,000+ datasets to help detect scam and money-laundering patterns on the marketplace.
Safegram has a simple two-tier verification policy — designed to keep the platform welcoming for everyone while making commerce genuinely safe.
Verification is free and takes ~60 seconds. It's optional to browse and post, but strongly encouraged — you get the Peacemaker Ring, higher trust in DMs and comments, and full access to community features.
Every business, creator and seller on Safegram is verified before their first listing goes live. No verification means no listings, no storefront, no paid services and no ads. This is our anti-scam moat.
Why we require it for sellers: anonymous sellers are how scams thrive on Facebook Marketplace, Instagram Shops and Nextdoor. On Safegram every seller has a real, verified identity behind them — so buyers can trust who they're paying, and honest sellers stand out.
A four-step flow that happens the first time you post, list or message on Safegram. Everything below is what you will actually see in the app.
Open Safegram, tap Get Verified, and scan the front and back of your ID. Didit supports 14,000+ document types across 220+ countries.
A short selfie confirms you are a real person, present right now. No smiling, blinking or turning — Didit's passive liveness runs silently in the background.
Didit compares your selfie to the ID photo (1:1 face match) and screens device, IP and AML signals across 10,000+ datasets. 99% of checks finish in under two seconds.
Safegram stores only the outcome — verified or not. Your ID images stay with Didit as our sub-processor. Your profile gets the blue Peacemaker Ring the moment the check clears.
Step 1 · Scan ID
Step 2 · Selfie
Step 3 · Match
Step 4 · Verified
Safegram never sees or stores your ID or biometrics — we hold zero passport scans, selfies or liveness data. Didit acts as our sub-processor and returns only a pass/fail signal. Full detail in our privacy policy.
Because verification is done by Didit, Safegram inherits the regulatory and audit posture of a specialist identity provider — not a home-built script.

A Peacemaker Ring means Didit successfully verified an identity, a seller, a business or an age band at the point of check. It is a strong signal — not a promise of future behaviour. Meet in public for in-person trades, keep chat on-platform, and use common sense when payment terms feel unusual.
No — verification is free and strongly encouraged for members, but it's optional to browse and post. However, every business, creator and seller must complete verification before they can list, sell, offer services, accept payments or run a storefront. Only verified profiles can transact on Safegram — no exceptions.
No. Only verified sellers and businesses can list products, offer services or accept payments on Safegram. Every listing on the marketplace comes from an account that has passed Didit-powered KYC or KYB checks.
Identity, seller (KYC), business (KYB), age assurance and anti-money-laundering (AML) checks on Safegram are powered by our verification partner Didit (didit.me). Didit is a dedicated identity and fraud infrastructure provider — not a side feature — used by 2,000+ organisations worldwide including Firecrawl, Slash, Bit2Me and UCSF Neuroscape.
Yes. Didit is backed by Y Combinator and Robinhood Ventures. Public information, pricing and API docs are available at didit.me — Safegram has no financial relationship with them beyond being a customer of their verification API.
No. ID documents and biometric checks are processed by Didit as our sub-processor. Safegram only stores the verification outcome (verified / not verified) and the badge, not your document images. Full detail lives in our privacy policy.
Didit supports 220+ countries, 14,000+ document types and 48+ languages, drawing on 1,000+ government and bureau data sources and 10,000+ AML datasets. In practice this means Safegram can verify accounts almost anywhere our app is available.
For age-sensitive flows Safegram uses Didit's age-estimation module (passive, on-device signals) alongside standard identity verification for older users. Didit is Jugendschutz geprüft (FSM-approved under German youth protection law §4(2) JMStV). Age assurance assists gating but is not a substitute for parental supervision.
Didit is ISO/IEC 27001 certified for information security, operates under the EU financial sandbox (Tesoro / SEPBLAC / Banco de España), publishes a status page at status.didit.me with a 99.99% SLA target, and — per didit.me — is the only identity provider an EU member-state government has formally called safer than in-person verification.
Yes. Safegram uses Didit's KYB (Know-Your-Business) and Key People / UBO (Ultimate Beneficial Owner) modules to verify company registration, directors and controlling persons before issuing a Verified Business badge and the Peacemaker Ring.
You open the Didit verification flow from inside Safegram, capture your government-issued ID (front and, where required, back), and complete a short passive liveness check — a few seconds of your face on camera so Didit can confirm you're a real person and match you to the ID. There's no quiz, no interview and no screen recording of the rest of your device.
For most people the scan itself takes about 30–90 seconds. The vast majority of checks return a decision in under a minute; more complex cases (unusual document types, KYB with company records, or AML review) can take a few minutes up to a few hours. You'll see the outcome in your Safegram profile as soon as Didit returns it.
Didit — not Safegram — collects your ID image and the liveness selfie in order to run the check. Safegram only ever receives the result (verified / not verified), the badge tier, and minimal metadata like timestamp and country of issue. Your document images and biometric templates never touch Safegram's servers or database.
Retention is governed by Didit under their GDPR-compliant policy and the legal requirements of KYC/AML rules — not by Safegram. You can request deletion or export of the data Didit holds about you directly via didit.me. Deleting your Safegram account removes the verified status and badge from our side immediately.
No. Verification is designed to be private by default. Other users only see a badge (Verified member, Verified seller, Verified business) — never your document number, full legal name, address or date of birth. You choose separately what display name, handle and bio to show.
Yes. Verification proves you're a real, unique human (and, for sellers, a real business) — it does not force you to use your legal name publicly. You can keep a pseudonym, private profile, hidden follower list and end-to-end encrypted DMs while still carrying the verified badge.
No. Safegram does not sell personal data and does not run a behavioural ad network. Didit processes your verification data solely to perform the check for Safegram as our sub-processor under a GDPR data processing agreement — not for advertising, profiling or resale.
No. Once you're verified the badge stays on your account. A re-check is only triggered in specific cases — for example if your document expires, if a business updates its directors, or if fraud signals require re-confirmation. You'll always be told why before a re-scan is requested.
Join a social marketplace where every verified badge is backed by a specialist identity provider — not guesswork.
