Safegram chat is end-to-end encrypted. That means messages are encrypted on your device and only the people in the conversation can decrypt them. Safegram cannot read your messages and we cannot hand over readable content to anyone else.
We cannot read them
Safegram does not hold the keys. There is no readable copy of your chat sitting on our servers for anyone to browse.
Real people, not strangers
Verified profiles mean the person you are messaging is who they say they are — encryption plus identity, not one without the other.
Reportable, always
You can report a message or a profile at any time. Reporting shares what you choose to share — nothing is silently scanned.
No ad profiling
Your conversations are not mined to build an advertising profile. That is not our business model.
Safer for younger accounts
Younger accounts get stricter messaging permissions by default, so unknown adults cannot simply slide into a teen's inbox.

When you set up Safegram, your device generates the keys that lock and unlock your messages. They never leave it.

Safegram chat is designed so the only people who can read your messages are the people you are talking to. Everything else — the trust signals, the reporting tools, the verified badge beside a name — is there to make that conversation safe as well as private.

Why encryption matters
When you message someone — a friend, a seller, a creator — that conversation should belong to you. Encryption keeps the content of those conversations private even from us.
What encryption does not solve
Encryption protects message content. It does not protect against someone screenshotting your message, impersonating another person, or convincing you to leave the platform. That is why we also use verified profiles, reporting and moderation.
Safer trading conversations
When you discuss a marketplace listing, keep the chat on Safegram. It is encrypted, reportable and tied to your verified context. Conversations that move to SMS or off-platform messengers lose those protections.
Status and limits
We are continuously improving the chat layer. Some features (group chat, media sharing) are evolving. We will document any limits clearly rather than overclaim.
Frequently asked questions
Is Safegram chat truly end-to-end encrypted?
Yes. Messages are encrypted on-device and only readable by the participants of the chat.
Can Safegram hand my messages to law enforcement?
We cannot hand over readable message content because we do not have access to the keys. Account metadata can be requested through lawful processes.
Are group chats encrypted?
We are expanding encrypted group chat. The product will state clearly which chat types are encrypted.
Are media attachments encrypted?
Media shared in encrypted chats is protected. Refer to the in-app help for current limits.
What if my phone is lost?
Sign out from another device and reset your account credentials. Encrypted history may be limited until you re-verify the new device.
Do you sell my data or use my chats for advertising?
No. Safegram does not sell personal data and does not mine conversations to build ad profiles. Advertising is not our business model.
Do you store my ID or biometrics to verify me?
No. Verification is run by our partner Didit, an ISO/IEC 27001 certified, EU-regulated provider. We keep only the pass or fail outcome and the badge — never document images or biometrics.
What metadata do you keep about my conversations?
We keep the minimum needed to deliver messages and fight abuse, such as account and delivery data. We do not keep readable message content, and we do not build interest profiles from who you talk to.
Where is my data processed, and can I delete it?
Data is processed in the EU under GDPR. You can request export or deletion of your account data at any time from the app or via our privacy page.
