What a private social network actually stores about you

"Privacy-first" is a claim anyone can print. The only useful version of it is a list. Here is what Safegram stores, what it never touches, and how long things stay.

TL;DR

No ID documents and no biometric data are stored by Safegram. Verification is performed by Didit, which returns only a pass or fail.
No behavioural advertising profiles exist, because Safegram sells no ads.
Personal data is never sold or brokered.
Messages are encrypted, and account data can be exported or deleted.

What we store

Account basics. A display name, a handle, an email address or phone number for sign-in and recovery, and your language and country preference.

Verification status. A pass or fail result, the date it was issued and the level achieved. Not the document, not the selfie, not a face template.

Your content. Posts, listings, Plans, Circle membership and the media you upload, kept while your account exists.

Safety and integrity signals. Reports made and received, dispute outcomes, and the inputs to your trust score. These exist so accountability survives longer than a single interaction.

Minimal technical logs. Security and abuse-prevention logs with short retention, used to stop account takeover and spam.

What we never collect

ID documents or biometric templates.
Cross-site tracking data or advertising identifiers.
Contact-list uploads used to build shadow profiles.
Behavioural profiles for ad targeting, because there is no ad targeting.

How long we keep it

Content stays while your account is active. Deleting an item removes it from the product and from backups on our normal backup cycle. Deleting your account removes your profile and content, with a short grace window in case of accident. Safety records connected to confirmed abuse can be retained longer, in an anonymised form, so a banned actor cannot simply re-register — this is the one exception, and it is deliberate.

Why Didit performs verification

Handing an ID document to a social network is exactly the risk people are right to worry about. Didit is an independent identity-verification provider working under European data-protection and information-security standards, used by regulated organisations across Europe. Safegram asks Didit a question and receives an answer. The sensitive material never enters our systems, so it cannot leak from them.

Your controls
